The Nintendo Switch – Switching Generations

Author: Blake Biehle

As many of you Nintendo fans and gamers alike are aware, Nintendo’s next inventive console, named the Switch, is just around the corner. This extremely unique and intriguing machine has been all the buzz for months now after showing its first preview trailer in October last year.

As of a little over a week ago, Nintendo had their official Switch presentation. Within this presentation, the Switch was exposed inside and out. They talked about the control scheme of the console, all of its features, its $300 price tag, release date of March 3rd, and many games that will be coming out for the console over the next year.

To be honest I’m eager to dive into Nintendo’s next generation. It’s about time the era of the Wii and Wii U come to a close. Finally Nintendo can open new doors to substantial 3rd party support and find a more appealing control scheme for gamers. One of the biggest flaws of the Wii U was its lack of support from 3rd parties. There just weren’t enough games to flock more gamers to the system. Now that Nintendo has a powerful console and a gimmick interesting enough to persuade 3rd parties and consumers alike, the Switch’s future is filled with promise.

Not only that, but the Nintendo Switch also has a decent lineup of games along the way. We have The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one of Nintendo’s best launch titles for any of their systems, Arms, which in my opinion looks like crazy competitive goodness, Splatoon 2 in the summer, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on April 28th , and Super Mario Odyssey, finally a new 3D open world Mario game! These are just a few of the many promising games the Switch has to offer over the next year.

As you can probably tell, I’m absolutely ecstatic for the Nintendo Switch’s release. Are any of you guys excited for the Switch? If so what games are you most hyped for? Leave a comment below!
